Research Interests:
  • Role of climate change in the population dynamics and impacts of eruptive forest insects
  • Coevolution of insect-plant interactions
  • Integrated management of forest insect populations
  • Advanced techniques for detection and monitoring of forest insect populations
Current Research:

Current research efforts focus on: 

  1. Quantification of the role of climate and climate change on the population dynamics, outbreak potentials and resultant impacts to forest ecosystems of the major forest insect disturbance agents in western Canada;
  2. Construction of a general framework within which to predict future impacts by known (and emergent) eruptive insects in Canada's forests that incorporates the range of climate change models and scenarios;
  3. Development of novel strategies and tactics to minimize the impact of eruptive forest insects in a warming environment.
